Registry Repair – A Basic How To

regtool

The windows registry is one of if not the most important component of your windows operating system(OS). Because of this it must be clean and free of errors for your PC to run smooth and error free.

In this article I will try and give you some best practices and guidelines to repairing the windows registry.

First thing you should know is that manually editing the registry is not for the average user, there are hundreds of  thousands of entries in the windows registry and changing or deleting the wrong one can cause your PC to stop booting forever, Yes I said STOP BOOTING FOREVER.

If you have manually edited the windows registry and now you cannot boot your only choice may be to re-install windows, if that does not work you may have to wipe your hard drive and start fresh, this can be a major pain trying to find all the drivers and support software for your system.

Assuming you have not manually edited your registry, the next thing you should know is that there are a ton of different registry repair software tittles available on the market.

This brings me to my own little rule for working any problem with windows, The rule of three, is my personal rule,. And it states that anything you want to do in windows you should have three different pieces of software to achieve. I have found that no matter how good the software or how many promises they make you, no one piece of software can do the job completely. To really get things done in windows requires a multi pronged approached. If I want to clean the adware or spyware off of my system I will use three different programs, Adaware, Spybot S&D, and Spyware blaster. Run them one at a time and then follow their instructions.

I use this same rule for the Registry Three different programs that all do the same thing but in different ways. The reason this is necessary is because windows is so complex and so is the registry, one piece of software may not find things another will, If after running the third piece of registry repair software it does not find anymore problems with your registry you can feel pretty good that your Windows registry of clean and error free.

Run the 1st piece of registry repair software, when it finds errors, and it will, select the fix option, or repair option, do NOT choose Delete. This forces the software to try to find solutions to the problems in your registry. Most Registry repair software will do the best it can to fix the problems and any it can’t fix, it will delete. Some will try to fix and then come back to the user with results of the repair/fix attempt and ask what to do with the errors it could not fix. At this point you would select delete.

Now run the second piece of registry repair software and do the same thing as before.

Now run the third registry repair software tittle and do the same thing as before.

At this point your registry is good to go and things should boot faster and have less errors.

One last thing, some Registry repair software has an option to do deep cleaning or aggressive search, I do not recommend these options as they may damage the registry, and we are trying to repair the registry.

Here are two registry tools I recommend.

Lokin Bakshire.

I have been messing up computers and consumer electronics since I was 9years old, I quickly learned that if I did not want people to know what an idiot I was that I would have to learn to fix things myself.
That is how I got started.
I do not reccomend my path to others.

Blue Screen of Death Error Messages – How Do I Get Around Them?

regtoolBlue screen of death error messages can still occur with the Windows system even though it is extremely secure. XP errors are almost impossible to understand and analyze.

You have probably realised it is time to begin running a few tests when the computer begins to slow down, you need to discover what’s going on here.

Do not start reinstating your operating system, reformatting your hard drive and jumping to the conclusion that your complete system has been corrupted.

There are possibilities that this course of action could put paid to your problem but most of the time this won’t be the case. Only if all else fails when you have experienced blue screen of death error messages, might it be the right time to begin thinking about reformatting your PC.

Restarting your system is my first suggestion as to what to try in this situation. It would be a sound idea in my opinion to keep it shut down for around 1/2 an hour, then start your Windows defrag program.

If you don’t already own a registry cleaner, your built in defragmentation program should do quite a good job at cleaning your hard disc.

How to perform a defrag.

1. Go to “all programs” you’ll find this in your start menu.
2. Take the accessories option.
3. You will now be able to click disc defragmentation which you’ll find in system tools.
4. From the disc defrag window you can perform the “analyze”.

As soon as analyzing has concluded it will let you know whether or not you need to defragment the volume.
All good registry cleaning software will come with the offer of a free scan and they do a much better, more thorough job than a defrag.

A defrag can take hours to finish it’s job.

Try to be sure you’ve nothing important that needs doing on your PC when your defrag is scheduled, possibly when you are turning in for the night.

Windows will often lose files and drop them in out of reach areas. When your system wants to get to them fast it is a lot more difficult. The first job a registry cleaner will do is place the most commonly used files in faster access areas. . These registry cleaners are also well known for putting all of the scattered defragmented files together and clearing them from your hard drive. All the files that are causing your system to slow will be included in these.

There are more ways than 1 to set off the blue screen of death error messages. It’s a real possibility that your computer’s random access memory isn’t working correctly. You can insert a new one into the computer’s mother board if faulty ram is indeed your problem.

Is your computer problem too many networks running at one time?

Many different connections to Internet, office servers or Blue-tooth networks, can jam up the virtual memory space. You could attempt restarting after disconnecting from all of the networks. The moment you restart your system it will run noticeably faster if the problem was accumulated networks. The same problem will come back as all the networks are linked back up.

Run your printer and blue-tooth networks only when they are required if this is the case.

If you need to fix a registry problem make sure to get a recommended windows registry repair utility.

Before you start your registry clean up, you should remove any programs that you no longer use. You can do this by going into the add/remove program utility in your windows control panel. Once you have removed these programs, make sure to delete them from the recycle bin as well. A great tool that will do this, and even more is the disk cleanup utility. It removes temporary internet files, cache, and recycle bin files to help increase the space available for other files on your hard drive.

Now that you have removed all the files that you can, purchase a registry cleaner. A registry cleaner is the tool that will be able to do a registry clean-up for you. Purchasing a registry cleaner also offers you support in the rare case a malfunction does occur with the program. Now that you have purchased your registry cleaner, install it. Before you begin your registry cleaning, you will want to make a backup of your registry. You can do this by going into the start menu, run, and type “regedit”. A window will pop up, click on file, and then export to get a copy of your registry. Make sure to put this on a piece of removable media such as a CD, DVD or USB stick.

Then run the registry clean-up. The registry cleaner will remove excess program files from windows installer, replace DLL files that are missing, and also find any deep rooted infections from viruses or spyware in your registry. While the registry cleaner will usually find a lot of the problem files, it may not always find everything. You should remove the problems that the registry cleaner has found and then restart your computer in order to allow the registry to reboot in a clean state. With the removal of all of these excess files, you should see a dramatic increase in speed. While not all registry cleaners work equally, most will be able to save you anywhere from five to thirty seconds off the startup time of your computer. How to Restore Your Systems Speed

regtoolUnless you have a virus, then your computer is slowing down because of all of the data it has accumulated over the time you have been using it. Every single thing you have ever done on it is stored somewhere on the computer. Over time all of that data begins to get scrambled into different locations on the hard drive, causing your computer’s registry to get a little out of order.

Most of the time people assume they have some sort of virus that they just can’t get rid of. So they call a technician or get a new computer. This is not necessary whatsoever, when you could have simply downloaded a program like RegTOOL that would completely restore your system files to like new again, making your computer seem like new again.

The RegTOOL will also greatly increase your computers start up speed, because it allows you to stop whatever program you’d like from starting up on startup. Your computer is starting slower because it has too many programs starting up upon start up so they are consuming the computer’s random access memory or RAM. You can also set the RegTOOL to automatically run scans as often as you’d like. One of the most valuable features is it’s ability to save a backup of all of your computer’s files. So if anything happens during or after the scan, then you will always be able to go back to the state the computer was in at the time of the last scan. This allows you to never have to worry about malware or anything that could damage your computers files.
